Saturday, April 30, 2011 New snow, good trails, but the Pisten Bully comes back to Lander for the Summer. Sunday, April 03, 2011:  BC got groomed last Wednesday, and again today.  Full coverage on all the trails still exists, and more snow has been falling.  Don't hang your boards up yet,  some of the best skiing occurs this time of year.   And NO, the golf course will not be groomed again before Thanksgiving regardless of what El Nino does. Monday, March 28, 2011  Beaver Creek was groomed again yesterday.  Coverage was 100% and conditions are excellent.  The off-trail areas are crusting, so skiing is good anywhere, just beware that small ski pole baskets will still sink to the ground off-trail. Wednesday, March 16, 2011:  Groomed Beaver Creek this AM for skate and classic.  This was the final "scheduled groom", but there is still 1-2.5 ft. of packed snow on all the trails, so the season will persist, but the grooming will be sketchy.  The crust skiing should be amazing this Spring - try it some morning. Equipment was pulled from the golf course today, so even if we get a big snow it will not be groomed again this season. Sunday, March 13, 2011:  BC was groomed this AM for skate and classic, and it was good.  Real good.  The untracked snow is beginning to "crust", so it won't be long before every meadow an wood is skiable. Friday, March 11, 2011  Beaver Creek was groomed this evening for skate and classic. Conditions should be excellent until about 1 PM, when it may begin to soften if the temps climb.  As the sun sets there will be some crusting on the Southern exposed sections, but in the woods things will be good.  Last ski? Wednesday, March 09, 2011  Beaver Creek was groomed for skate and classic.   Still multiple feet of snow in most places, and conditions are excellent.  There may be some glazing on south-facing slopes, but most of the snow is stellar.  Snow temps today were a high of 25F, while the air temp reached 35F.          The Golf course will probably not be groomed any more this season, because bare spots would cause the groomer to create ground damage.  It is still skiable in most places, just be cautious on downhills that the snow doesn't disappear before your skis. Saturday, March 05, 2011   Beaver creek trails were groomed this morning for skate and classic, conditions are very good. Thursday, March 03, 2011  The golf course clubhouse loop was groomed this AM, and the Beaver creek trails were groomed yesterday.   Conditions are great up above, and variable on the GC.   This weekend, the first 10 skiers at Beaver Creek can ski for free, but if they want to socialize they will have to pay.  Thats my attempt at humor folks. Sunday, February 27, 2011:  Both Beaver creek and the golf course were groomed for skate and classic this morning.  Conditions are very good to excellent at both venues, with all trails open and lifts operating.  New snow over the weekend will firm up and get better through the week.  The concession stands are closed for the season, but the outhouses will remain accessible for those in need. Saturday, February 26, 2011:   Beaver Creek was groomed last night, and it continued to blow and snow as the groomer departed.  Expect soft conditions until it can be re-groomed.          The golf course was groomed this morning.  6" of new snow was flattened to make good skate and classic tracks on both the clubhouse and the lower loops.  Expect the lower loops to be very soft until it gets skied in and regroomed.  There is also a shear layer between the old and new snow that will take some time and sintering to stabilize.  However, avalanche danger is sub-low at this venue.......... Wednesday, February 23, 2011: Tonight GC was groomed "...as good as ever." Groomed all of BC today for skate and classic. Conditions are excellent in most places.  Some of the skating areas are still soft near the classic tracks, but should firm up overnight.   Eternity Hill has the best skate foundation, and there are other places that are also prime but with intermittant soft spots.     The parking lot is easily accessible with most normal vehicles, but caution advised with Prius's and other abnormal low-bodied granola powered rigs.  (Not an editorial, just fact/gospel according to Fox News etc.)  As always, a shovel makes a nice addition to any Wyoming outfit.  Four wheel drives get stuck better than 2x4's. Sunday, February 20, 2011:  The golf course clubhouse loops were groomed this AM for skate and classic, so afternoon religious observances will be held there.   Bring your own gospel.   Beaver Creek was groomed yesterday.  However, overnight the snow gods have bestowed us with more substrate, enough so to close the S. Pass hwy this morning.  When conditions allow, grooming will resume. Wednesday, February 16, 2011  Beaver Creek was groomed for skate and classic.  Snow is holding real well up there, and even tho the daytime temps are balmy, the snow temps are in the mid-twenties.   Classic is alittle glazed in spots that get alot of solar, but in the shade is great.   Saturday, February 12, 2011...... Fresh grooming awaits at the golf course, and at Beaver Creek.  Skate and classic trails were refreshed last night, so it is your choice of venue and technique. Wednesday, February 09, 2011 Beaver Creek was groomed for classic and skate.  There was 6-12" of new snow, so the skate lanes are soft in some places, but should set with time.  Here are the first tracks, make yours next....... Tuesday, February 08, 2011 In the Evening, another grooming at the golf course was able to lay down some classic tracks, and to retouch the skating lanes on the clubhouse loop.  The golf course was groomed pre-dawn for skating on the clubhouse loops.  Mechanical difficulties made us unable to lay down classic tracks, but the snow is soft enough that a skier or two can lay them in.  There was ~6" new snow overnight. Saturday, February 05, 2011  BC was groomed in the evening for classic and skate.  It was still snowing late in the night after grooming, so expect a workout or excellent touring conditions.  This is a stellar year for snow at BC, appreciate it. The golf course was groomed on Friday night, and conditions are good. Wednesday, February 02, 2011 After some trials and errors, Beaver Creek was groomed this PM for skate and classic.  Conditions are pristine, and the temperatures are much warmer than Lander right now.  Enjoy. Also, heres a short video of  a pre-grooming routine on a cold day....    Tuesday, February 01, 2011 PM:  The clubhouse loop at the golf course was groomed for skate skiing. Sunday, January 30, 2011:  BC was regroomed for skate and classic.  All trails very good. Saturday, January 29, 2011  This AM, the golf course was touched up for freestyle skiing.  The snow is holding okay, but beware of thin spots.   Wednesday, January 26, 2011  BC groomed for skate and classic in PM.  There was 3-6" of new snow, so conditions are great. Sunday, January 23, 2011 The golf course was groomed this AM for skate.  Conditions are hard/firm, so it will require some edge control for stability.  BC is good as always.   Wednesday, January 19, 2011  The GC got a pre-snowfall grooming/flattening on Tues. night.  Beware of bare patches on the clubhouse loop.   Fantasmagorical!  BC got 3-5" new snow, and was groomed tonight.  Conditions have never been better.  The GC also was getting the new snow groomed in tonight, so if you need an excuse to miss work tomorrow there is always that flu bug thats going around....... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saturday, January 15, 2011 The Beaver Creek venue was regroomed this PM following the high school races.   Conditions are amazing.  Night temps are in the teens, with days in the high 20's, so the snow is staying very nice for skate or classic. Wednesday, January 12, 2011  The golf course clubhouse loops were touched up this morning in advance of tonights 'event'.  Skiing is excellent at the GC and at BC. Monday, January 10, 2011  The golf course got regroomed yesterday, and classic tracks were put in on the top side (by the clubhouse).  The BC trails were also touched up, and they remain great.  Dave Slovisky said its the best conditions he has seen up there for this time of year. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Sunday, January 09, 2011 ALERT!  Bad conditions reported at BC and GC Rocky T.F. Sqwirl reported that his good buddy Bull Whinkle had to leave the Beaver Creek area due to bad snow conditions.  Bull usually enjoys walking the trails and eating his meals up there.  However, this year the snow is so deep off-trail that it just wasn't worth it.  Bull says that he is going to head down the drainage until April greens things up.  Rocky is still going to remain near the stadium, but he says  "...its pretty lonely without my good buddy around." The golf course also had an unfavorable report from Kevin "Tiger Shark" Mcgowan.  "Have you seen it?  Have you been up there?  I mean what the heck is going on, I've lost more balls up there this winter than I lost combined over the prior 5 years.  And then some jerk keeps packing it down, so who knows when it'll melt off."  When I questioned Kevin about the fact that his son Joe is enjoying time on the ski team, and wasn't that partly due to the snow on the course, his reply was simple:  "... he plays golf too, he's young and we're not, and I'm his father and know best." Maybe Rocky and Kevin can start a support group......... Saturday, January 08, 2011  This morning the golf course was retouched for skating.  There is still a thin base, which makes classic tracks difficult to lay down, but you can always make your own.  There are a few thin areas to be cautious of. The following video shot Wednesday lacks quality in its capture, but shows how much fun the BLM loop is right now. Saturday, January 01, 2011  The golf course was re-groomed for skate, and the back nine to the east got its first packing.  This cold weather requires a hard wax, ironed on, scraped and brushed well.  'Start Green' is a great choice.  Gannett Peak Sports has it, and one bar will last a long time. Friday, December 31, 2010  GC or BC, take your pick.  Beaver Creek had 12" of new snow and was groomed today for skate and classic.  The golf course was retouched this AM, however its snowpack cannot handle classic tracks yet, but you can still kick and glide, or skate there.  Temps are supposed to moderate over the next few days, but the snow will stay.  Make a New Years resolution and get your skis out frequently. Thursday, December 30, 2010  The golf course was groomed tonight.  The snowpack is thin, so be careful that you don't injure your skis on the concrete crosswalks.  Currently, it is only groomed for skate skiing, but if more snow arrives we may be able to put in a classic track. Wednesday, December 29, 2010  BC was groomed yesterday, and again today with another 6" of new snow.  It will probably not get regroomed until this current storm system passes out of here next year.  Until then be prepared for some nice untracked classic skiing up there.  If the golf course gets sufficient cover, we will try to get it useable ASAP.  Questions? Saturday, December 25, 2010 PM:  Select trails were touched up with the groomer tonight.  All trails have good snow-cover, and conditions are very good. Thursday, December 23, 2010  BC Trails regroomed tonight for classic and skate.  2" new snow overnight, and things are looking great.  The tracks are excellent, there is fresh snow in the trees, and even Bullwinkle is contented. Wednesday, December 22, 2010  BC Trails regroomed today for classic and skate.  1" new snow overnight, and things are looking great.  Don't miss the opportunity - best conditions in many years! Tuesday, December 21, 2010  The BC trails were groomed for skate and classic today.  There was 7" of new snow in the last 2 days.  Conditions are Excellent! Wednesday, December 15, 2010  BC was groomed for skate and classic, all main trails.  The classic track is only on the lower stadium and Lower Limestone until you reach CowCrossing, from there all trails have a classic track.  There was 2" of new snow last night to add to the good base. Sunday, December 12, 2010:  The Beaver Creek trails were groomed today.  Problems with the grooming equipment are causing some imperfections in the tracks.  Please ski with care .. it will be corrected ASAP. Saturday, December 11, 2010:  More new snow last night.  Groomed to perfection this AM.  Beaver Creek is awaiting your wax.  Mrs. Moose and junior are also awaiting. Tuesday, December 07, 2010: Double classic tracks were set from the stadium along Upper Limestone/Woods loop, and around the Pipeline Loop.  The rest of the trails have a single classic track, and all trails have skating lanes.  Conditions are good to excellent. Saturday, December 04, 2010:  "PITY THE FOOL."  Mr T would say that about anybody that couldn't take advantage of the conditions at Beaver Creek tomorrow.  All trails are groomed for classic and skate, conditions are good to excellent.  And yes, Mr T's skiing credentials are questionable. Wednesday, December 01, 2010:  The moose is loose at Beaver Creek and the trails were groomed today.  There is 18" of  nice snow there, so all trails are set.  Classic tracks are best below the Powerline jct., and there may still be some soft places until it gets further packing.  Get up there and use the trails before the moose trashes them.  Master Steve said its the best conditions he has seen on this side of the highway this early in the season! Tuesday, November 30, 2010:  The golf course was groomed today and tonight.  Snow is shallow, so be cautious of rocks and cross-walks.  Not deep enough for classic tracks yet. Sunday, November 28, 2010:  Beaver  Creek got the lower trails groomed this PM with the small ginzu groomer.  This week we will try to move more equipment up there for a full attack on the trails.  Stay tuned, its still nice touring up there. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Wednesday, November 17, 2010:  Groomer report from BC.  There is enough snow for touring/classic in most places.  Be wary of downhills, and keep your race skis in storage for awhile longer.  Extra Blue was perfect today.  Another 6-12" are needed before grooming is reasonable
